Multi-lingual and instrumentalist Pablo Aragona hails from the sophisticated and thriving music-center of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
As the son of Jorge Aragona- distinguished Music Conductor of over 45 years with Argentina’s best choirs and orchestra’s- Pablo’s destiny in music was foreshadowed. He began playing piano, guitar, and drums at the young age of nine, and continued his studies to receive two different degrees: professional musician from the Center of High Music Studies in Argentina, and Sound Technician from the prestigious Escuela de Musica de Buenos Aires. His desire to further his international musical mastering, took him to study at the Drummers Collective in New York City.
Pablo has always been intrigued by international and cultural musical influences. This pushed him to include travel as part of his musical studies, where he participated in many festivals, including the Jazz Plaza Festival in Havana, Cuba, where he found inspiration in Caribbean rhythms and achieved a new musical perspective.
Upon returning to Buenos Aires, Pablo was commissioned to play for musicals such as Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Rufianes. In 2014, Pablo created El Resongon, a nine piece band dedicated to playing and recording his own compositions. After three years, he reduced the formation to a quintet, which proved to be the magical formula. With this new formation, Pablo wrote and recorded an album called “BACO”.
Touring became a huge part of Pablo’s life, and in 2018, he decided to branch out even further in his musical adventures with an opportunity with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. He spent two years with the company playing drums, eventually becoming Musical Director. After meeting his soon-to-be-wife onboard the ships, he decided to move to the United States and further his musical career.
After the World opened back up in 2021, Pablo put together his beloved quintet again, but this time with some of the best local musicians in the Southern American music scene, comprised of Justin Girionda on Trumpet, Jordan Green on Sax, Connor Tutins on Guitar, Forrest Holcomb on Bass, and Pablo Aragona on Drums. The Pablo Aragona Quintet recorded a second EP in 2022 entitled “Yikes”, consisting of five original songs. They will be recording a third EP in the summer of 2023, and plan to tour the US at the end of the year.
Since being in the United States, Pablo Aragona has found work as a full-time musician, private music teacher / coach, and band leader. He plays with many local artists and groups, such as Osaka Fall, Austin Kelly, and Keegan Matthews, among others. He was also featured in the original musical “Monster Stomp” at Sea World Orlando’s Howl’O’Scream festival.
Pablo’s current projects also include performing weekly as Music Director of Miami’s prestigious percussion group, Rhythm Portal. The group use unique hand sign vocabulary to communicate and improvise in real time, making them a special presence in the music scene. In the Spring of 2023, the group was flown to New York City to perform with the Jonas Brothers, giving Rhythm Portal their first Broadway appearance.
Pablo presently lives in Winter Park, Florida, with his wife Hayley.
